Thankful - Day 6

There is so much to be thankful for today.
Here’s an overview of my day:

I got out of bed slowly since there was no school today. Greg had to get ready for work and I promised to iron a shirt for him, but no rush, no worries. I ironed the shirt, threw in a load of laundry and sat down with a leisurely cup of coffee.

After sorting through some email and taking the dog for a good long walk, I gathered the girls for a day out. We stopped at our polling place to vote (good luck Mr. Obama and Ms. Warren), laughed over lunch, and settled into the bookstore for coffee cake and novels. (I did a little grading while they read the latest Riordan.)

When I pulled into our driveway, two of my neighbors were raking up leaves in my yard. I really do enjoy raking, but I tried one day a week ago and was in crying pain later that night – my wrist is no where near healed. I had offhandedly mentioned this to one when we ran into each other over the weekend.

There is so much to be grateful for.

When I was thanking them for the hundredth time, one woman looked at me and said, “Isn’t it great to live in a neighborhood?” Yes, my goodness, yes. We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood where people notice each other and don’t hesitate to do little favors.

Thank you Monica and Phyllis for raking my leaves and being my neighbors.

  1. I love that you took the time to stop and be thankful on what's usually such a busy day with the election! Living in a neighborhood is a wonderful blessing that's too easy to overlook sometimes. Sounds like you have wonderful neighbors!
